Spring Harvest

Spring Harvest is a Christian organisation that exists to 'equip the Church for action'.

For many of the congregation of St James, Stalmine it has become our annual 'retreat' when we spend time away together at Butlins site at Skegness and have the opportunity to worship, receive excellent Christian teaching and explore our Christian faith.

It was 2002, when a party of about 18 from St James' Church first went to Spring Harvest. This number has grown steadily and we've just returned from an exciting week on the theme of the "Apprentice".  24 of us spent a wonderful week of fellowship and teaching, when we considered our roles as God's Apprentices.

If this is something you are interested in please speak to Lisa Farrington (790238) or visit the Spring Harvest website at www.Springharvest.org

Here's what some of us have to say about our time at Spring Harvest ...

"I really enjoyed the drama and dance workshops in the afternoon. There is a great choice of entertainment in the evening including Christian bands and comedians." Amy aged 18

"Being our first time, we didn't know what to expect, but thought we could slip away into Skegness if we wanted a change. No chance! The Big Top drew us in with its lively music and wonderful speakers. Each morning and evening we joined thousands of friendly people on their way to the different services ... A holiday No! but a happy, busy week DEFINITELY!"  Beryle and Ken

I enjoy accompanying an increasing number of people to Spring Harvest every year. Spring Harvest creates and atmosphere that we would find it difficult to equal at parish level. Every Christian should be given the opportunity to experience the power of the Holy Spirit being poured out as thousands praise God together in worship that is both lively and  sensitively led. It also gives me a wonderful opportunity to spend some quality time with members of our Church family at St James. I would highly recommend it to all Churches and their leaders. George (our former Vicar)
